About me

Vanity Fur VIP Dog & Cat Grooming Spa

Comfort-first, one-to-one grooming in Sherburn, near Malton, North Yorkshire

About Vanity Fur VIP

Vanity Fur VIP is a calm, one-to-one dog and cat grooming spa based in Sherburn, near Malton, North Yorkshire, specialising in low-stress, comfort-focused grooming.

I am a "Taking the Grrr Out of Grooming" approved groomer, meaning I use behaviour-aware, low-stress handling techniques tailored to each individual pet.

I'm Melanie, the groomer behind Vanity Fur VIP.  My approach centres around trust, patience and clear communication with both pet and owner. Every appointment is carried out on an individual basis, no busy salon environment, no crates and no rushed production-line grooming.

I work at your pet's pace, not the clock.

A Different Grooming Experience

Many of the dogs and cats I see need a little extra understanding. This includes puppies and kittens starting their grooming journey, nervous or sensitive pets, older pets, and those who may have struggled with grooming previously.  My goal is always to help each pet feel safe and able to cope, while still maintaining a practical, healthy coat.

Grooming isn't just about appearance, it plays an important role in comfort, skin health and overall wellbeing. I focus on honest coat care and will always explain what is realistic for your pet's coat type, lifestyle and home maintenance routine, without judgement.

Qualifications & Professional Standards

I hold two Level 3 Dog Grooming qualifications (City & Guilds and OCN), am fully insured, first aid qualified and a "Taking the Grrr Out of Grooming" approved groomer.

To expand my services into cat grooming, I completed specialist training with Julie Harris Cat Grooming Education, one of the UK's leading educators in professional cat grooming.

My cat grooming training include:

• Julie Harris Cat Grooming Education - Cat Grooming Essentials Part 1 – Certificate of Completion (2025)

• Julie Harris Cat Grooming Education - Cat Grooming Essentials Part 2 – Practical Skills – Certificate of Competence (2026)

I regularly invest in further education, seminars and hands-on training so I can continue improving my handling, welfare and styling skills for the pets in my care.

Competitions & Continuing Professional Development

I regularly enter dog grooming competitions and attend industry seminars to refine my skills and stay current with modern grooming techniques. The feedback from judges and educators directly benefits the pets I groom in the salon.

I also attend practical seminars and workshops throughout the year to continually develop my handling skills, coat care knowledge and styling techniques.

I’m particularly suited for:

• puppies and kittens starting grooming

• nervous or sensitive dogs and cats

• older dogs and cats

• dogs or cats who have struggled with grooming before

My Aim At Vanity Fur VIP

The aim is simple: a grooming experience your pet doesn't have to endure, but can learn to feel comfortable with over time.
