A DOGS GUIDE TO: National Pet Day!

Thursday, 9 April 2026 02:17 AM

Hello humans.

It’s me. Your dog. Your favourite.

I’ve taken time out of my very busy schedule (sleeping, eating, barking at absolutely nothing) to explain something very important:

National Pet Day (11th April 2026)  is basically a day to celebrate me.

You’re welcome.

Now Why do we deserve this day?

Let’s just run through what I do for you on a daily basis:

I protect the house from dangerous intruders (like the post, leaves, your shoes)

I clean up any food you accidentally drop

I provide emotional support (especially when snacks are involved)

I look adorable 24/7 with literally zero effort (apart from a groom every 6 weeks).

And what do I ask for in return?

Food. Attention. More food. Maybe a squeaky toy.

So yes, I think a whole day dedicated to me is more than fair.

I’ve put together a helpful guide for how you should be celebrating me on this joyous day. You’re welcome again.

1. Give me treats

Not one. Not two. Many. This is not the day for “portion control.”

2. Take me on an extra-long walk

I want to sniff everything. Every blade of grass. Every lamppost. No rushing.

2. Let me bark at every single person that walks past MY territory (your house)

I know you normally say no. Today, you say yes. I will be as loud as I want to be.

3. Play with me until I’m tired

And then continue playing even when I’m pretending to be tired. It’s a test.

4. Take photos of me

I expect to be posted everywhere. I am the moment.

Also,  about this “Grooming” situation

I understand you want me to look “presentable, clean and healthy.”

But let’s be clear:

Rolling in mud = personality

Wet dog smell = natural fragrance

Fur everywhere = interior design

That said, I do enjoy a good pamper session. The compliments afterwards are worth it.

Fine, maybe treat me to a nice trip to the groomers. (Can't believe I just barked that)

I know not all pets are as lucky as me (shocking, I know).

Some are still waiting for their humans. So today, you could also:

Help shelters

Think about adopting (more dogs like me is a good decision)

Share these posts so my future friends find homes and get to experience the love I experience.

So on this very important day, please remember:

I am not just a pet.

I am your best friend. Your shadow. Your snack inspector.

Now if you don’t mind, I believe there are treats with my name on them.

Happy National Pet Day everydoggy!
