About me

My route into dog grooming is a bit unusual. I graduated from De Montfort University with a 2.i in Law and Human Resources and went on to have a successful career in HR.  I moved to York in 2010 with my husband for a lifestyle change. I had always wanted to run my own business but doing what I never really knew.

I took a short evening course in grooming my own dog, a Miniature Schnauzer called Riber, at Askham Bryan College which I enjoyed so much I went on to complete my City & Guilds Level 2 at Moulton College in Northampton and both the Level 3 Certificate and Diploma at the prestigious and highly regarded Look North Training Centre in Keighley.  In 2020 I attained a Certificate in Cat Grooming at the Welsh Grooming Academy and Canine First Aid in 2021.

I moved into my current premises in 2014 investing £10k in state-of-the-art grooming equipment including a Hydrobath which cleans and massages the skin. 

I offer the following services to clients; Dog  & Cat Grooming Consultations, Puppy Grooming, Hand stripping, Bathing and Drying, Styling to the Breed Standard, Asian Fusion Styling, Ear care, Claw trimming, Emmi-pet Ultrasonic Teeth cleaning, Cat Grooming both wet and dry, and lots of After Care Advice.

I've been grooming since 2012 and get a real sense of achievement if I can turn a dog around from one who is nervous about being groomed to one that is happy to trot into the salon. All grooms are by appointment only so I can give your pet the individual attention that they deserve. Our salon software sends appointments and reminders to help you to organise your day. We have a separate grooming room for cats.

Opening times are:
Monday to Friday 9:00 - 17:00
There is plentiful free parking directly outside the premises, an on-site cafe and toilet facilities.

    I thoroughly recommend Loretta. Alfie was nervous when he first met Loretta as he had a bad experience with another groomer. For ages he wouldn’t even walk through the door! He loves Loretta and is very comfortable getting groomed. She always give an amazing cut to both our dogs and I love the fact it is only the two of them being groomed.
