About me
Katie Rourke Dowding’s professional career in dogs spans over 30 years. She is an International Certified Master Groomer working from her salon in Ascot, Berkshire. When she is not glued to her grooming table, Katie gives seminars on “The Business Of Grooming” for which she was nominated as Speaker of the Year in 2019.
Prior to grooming, she owned and ran The Canine Film
Academy, a dog training school teaching dogs the skills required to work in
films. “Padfoot” (Sirius Black in dog form) who appeared in Harry Potter’s “The
Prisoner of Azkaban” was created using a CFA Dog.
Katie’s current crusade is the prevention of groomer’s back
injury. She invented The Centre Stage Backdrop and brought it to market in
2018, where it has instantly gained massive recognition and popularity. Her device prevents small dogs from migrating
to the far side of the table while they’re being groomed, which is a major cause
of back pain within the grooming industry.

Katie has been grooming our 9 year old cockapoo for pretty much most of her life. She now also grooms our 2 year old cavapoo! We would never take our dogs anywhere else. The quality and skill from Katie is amazing. She is a highly qualified Master Groomer. Both of our dogs love her and they always come away looking like show dogs. We get comments from people constantly about how amazing they look! Cannot recommend highly enough!

Katie has been grooming my shih-tzu for 4.5 years now and today has braved my pug, what this lady doesn't know about grooming and dogs is just not worth knowing! My shih-tzu had terrible itchy skin when he met katie but she has taken the time to help him with different shampoos and with his diet we have a totally new dog thanks to her. My pug has just had her first session and has come out not only gorgeous but totally happy with the whole experience. I cannot recommend katie enough, to anyone who will listen... she really is a superstar!

Max has been groomed by Katie since he was a few months old, he totally loves her. A trip to the groomer for Max is a fun afternoon out at a luxury spa and who doesn’t love a bit of pampering! Katie has to be one of the nicest people and is highly skilled, extremely knowledgeable and always very professional. Max always leaves her looking amazing, I don’t believe that any dog is allowed to leave the salon looking less than perfectly immaculate. We are always receiving comments on Max’s appearance which he laps up of course. Katie really is fabulous and we’re very lucky and grateful for her continued help and support in keeping Max in tip top condition.
Katie has been grooming our Cavapoo, Bonnie, since she was a pup and always does the most amazing job. I had used a couple of groomers beforehand who just seem to take your money, shave down and hand back (still wet sometimes!). Katie always takes the time to pamper and groom Bonnie who just LOVES going to be groomed now. She comes back tail wagging and looking and smelling fabulous. Katie is a real artist at what she does and knows her breeds. Any problems and she’s the first to pick up on them and help. She is always open and transparent about how she operates her business - you know what you’re getting and I believe it’s worth every penny!

Katie has been grooming both my dogs for several years and she is quite simply the best! I drop off two scruffy yetis and three hours later pick up two immaculate pin-up dogs! Even more important to me is that both boys love her and go into the salon with wagging tails, looking forward to their spa session Happy dogs=happy owner!

Katie has been grooming our cockapoo for nearly 5 years. Katie always makes him look fabulous and I love that she uses organic and environmentally friendly products. He loves his time with her and we love the result!
Katie has looked after our Shih-poo since he was a puppy. He always looks and smells gorgeous when he leaves and we get so many compliments for his looks when he has just been groomed. Katie is very professional, absolutely loves her canine clients and has trained her human clients very well :-). I know our little pooch will get looked after properly and am so glad that Katie includes teeth cleaning in her groom. Our pooch still has beautiful pearly whites. We're very lucky to have been able to get onto Katie's client list and feel it's well worth the money to have our little fur baby groomed properly by someone who knows what she is doing!!

Katie has been grooming my Bichon most of her life and has done a fabulous job with her. I particularly like the fact that my dog wants to head into Katie's for her groom, which is a rare and special thing! Can't recommend her enough.
Katie has been grooming my 5 year old cockapoo bitch since she was a puppy. I would never take her to anyone else. Katie does a fantastic job and my dog returns to me looking beautiful, smelling heavenly, claws ground to perfection and gleaming teeth. Katie is very professional and has a wealth of knowledge, which she is expanding constantly by attending further courses, seminars, qualifications etc. What she doesn’t know about dogs is not worth knowing. Many a time Katie has saved me vet bills by recommending homeopathic remedies or spotting minor ailments before they turn into something serious. Never before have I met a person with such love and kindness towards all animals.

Katie has been grooming our terrier-spaniel rescue Molly since we adopted her two years ago, and I would never want to go anywhere else. Katie is meticulous in everything she does, highly professional, and has a wealth of knowledge about all things dog! I know I can rely on Katie to flag up any health issues she may pick during at a grooming session — the little things we may have missed — and I feel 100% confident Molly is in brilliant hands. Plus Molly always comes home looking (and smelling!) gorgeous.
