The Groom Room Stirling

Stirling, Scotland

About me

I live and breathe dogs, cats & horses and have done from a very young age!  My Granny used to have a life sized Old English Sheep Dog teddy which I used to brush with a hairbrush when I was little, I think it was always apparent I was going to become a pet groomer!

After leaving school with Highers I had absolutely no inclination to go on to study anything other than something animal based and so I went to study Horse Management at Oatridge College.

For the many years to follow I worked as a professional showgroom for an international showjumper, it was here that I learnt that my passion was grooming, turning horses out to the highest of standards, working to deadlines, working under pressure, every aspect of care and attention to detail.  Later, these skills & this passion developed into dog/pet grooming.

have been a part of the Pets at Home Groom Room team now, for over 8 years.  I started working for Pets at Home in 2011 and joined the team in Stirling as an assistant stylist.  I was then transferred to the Kirkcaldy branch where I continued my training, gaining valuable experience by shadowing my then manager before being promoted to manager myself.  I was based in Kirkcaldy for 4 years where I Managed a team of groomers and assistant stylists and was responsible for a large part of their training and the overall performance of the salon.  I’ve had experience of opening a brand new salon in Linlithgow and building clientele and I’m currently now back where it all began in Stirling, with the most dedicated, passionate, lovely team I could have.  We just love our jobs!

During my time with the Groom Room I’ve been given fantastic training & personal development opportunities, such as being put forward for my C&G Diploma exam of which I was delighted to pass first time with the lovely Molly the Welsh Terrier & Luna the Cocker Spaniel, who behaved impeccably & helped me gain Merit for both.  I’ve also had the pleasure of assisting with the Groom Room Stand at Crufts, chatting to spectators about our grooming services and I was also asked to Demo some Furminator Grooming products on various dogs on the stand.   PAH run fun incentives often with prizes of attending ie Colin Taylor seminars/workshops & I’ve been lucky to win a few of these.

I don’t have a specific favourite breed to style but I love grooming terriers, particularly The Welsh, The Westie & Scottish Terrier, I love grooming schnauzers and scissoring wool coats, I also particularly enjoy having a puppy in for his/her first experience and ensuring they have a calm & happy one.  I just love all aspects of grooming & continually learning & developing my skills.  I’m always looking for my next seminar or training day to attend as we never stop learning.  I took part in my first grooming competition ‘The Uk Groom Off’ hosted by PAH and that really inspired me to get more into competing, (when I find the time!) which is something I’m looking to do more of in the near future.

Lisa is one of the best groomers I have ever seen, the quality of cut she gave my Toy poodle Parker was incredible. Really impressed with her knowledge and her ability. An absolute asset to the grooming community!

Thanks so much Paul! I loved grooming Parker, can’t wait to see him for his next haircut in a few weeks xx

Lisa is not only an extremely talented groom she has a unique way of relating to both my border terriers. Nothing phases Lisa even managing Louis and Harris at the same time not easy. Both my borders love Lisa and always keen to see her. The hand strip they get is very well done and they always look immaculate. I really appreciate the time and effort Lisa puts into my dogs she is the best!!

Lisa is an excellent groomer she makes my golden doodle absolutely gorgeous every time, and makes my dog feel very reassured when she goes. Highly recommend Lisa.

Lisa has groomed my 8 year old cocker spaniel, Hamlin, since he was a very small puppy, and I would never take him to anyone else. Lisa puts him totally at ease, with lots of cuddles and kisses, which he loves. Hamlin always looks and smells lovely after his groom and I have never been disappointed with Lisa’s standards. She is a consummate professional, knowledgeable and easy to speak to. Hamlin and I have followed Lisa, as she has progressed and excelled in her chosen profession, and have no hesitation in continuing to do so. I cannot recommend her highly enough ☺️

Lisa & her team have groomed Mason our cocker spaniel since he was a puppy and we have never been extremely consistent with him over the years we continue to recommend her to other owners of pets. Mason loves going to get his cut and goes quite willingly. You can see Lisa has a passion for the pets she grooms as if they were her own. We book our next appointment when done to ensure we have not to wait for an appointment for his next cut as the diary is always full.

Should have said she has been extremely consistent with him over the years on above post. He just had another cut yesterday and as always he has came back looking fabulous. Thank you again Lisa . See you in August for his next groom and cut . X
