Small Paws Dog Grooming

About me

Small Paws Dog Grooming has been established 7 years providing dog grooming services based in Washington, Tyne and Wear.

Grooming in a purpose built studio, I provide a one-to-one, appointment only service. All grooming is dedicated to providing a calm, quiet, stress free and safe environment with no other dogs, distractions or noise other than calming, gentle Reiki meditation music.

My priority is to create an experience as enjoyable and relaxing as possible for every dog with each dog’s individual needs met. I work with many dogs who need extra time and attention as they have various difficulties surrounding the grooming process. Working together, the grooming process is taken at the dogs own pace to build a relationship of trust and respect with positive reinforcement and encouragement throughout.

Having studied animal management, canine behaviour and being Reiki Practitioner my practice has an emphasis towards holistic grooming using calming and low stress handling techniques and being in tune with how dogs behave and learn.

Grooming holistically simply means considering everything. Working holistically isn’t just about the pet and the time it’s on the grooming table, it is acknowledging everything that affects the dog’s life. It’s taking everything into consideration and getting a look at the big picture: the animal, the owner, its lifestyle and the groomer. We all work together. Every element is as important as the other, and decisions are based on what is best for all.

A good groom is expected from all groomers, but a great groom leaves your dog feeling wonderful, you, the owner, feeling pleased and the groomer happy. If something isn't healthy or balanced either physically, mentally or emotionally, then it's losing some of the quality of life it could have.

  • Sarah Parker

We adopted our shih tzu Archie just over a year ago. Sally was recommended to us by the shelter we adopted Archie from as she volunteers her services to the dogs in their care. Archie was very scared of the whole grooming process but over the year his trust in Sally has grown. She has been so patient with him, going at his pace to the point now that Sally is able to do most of his groom 'grumble free'!! Thank you Sally.

Thank you Sarah. Working with Archie and yourselves and seeing him transform and gain confidence with grooming over the last year has been a privilege. He has truly come on leaps and bounds! Thank you again for all your hard work and dedication with the little one between grooms, Sally
